Ok. I've been really resistant to the whole vampire culture thing. I think the Twilight craze and general vampire pop culture overkill (I make no excuses for puns) really turned me off of anything vampire related, which sucks (still not sorry) because I love Anne Rice and various other vampire related books and movies. Underworld, Blade, you probably get the picture.
Anyway, so I first heard about True Blood, I rolled my eyes and went on my merry way. I caught a few minutes of it on TV by accident a couple of times, saw fangs and changed the channel.
The husband and I recently decided to give it a shot because we're kind of out of shows right now. I have to say that I love it. A lot.
I really like the characters. They're varied enough to make things interesting. Plus they're Southern, the sexy, intelligent kind of Southern. I like most of them so much that sometimes I get a little jealous that I didn't come up with them. We're only on season 1 (DVDs from the library) but I'm sure we'll get caught up soon.

Goodbye Mad Love
I read the other day that Mad Love was canceled, which sucks because I was starting to like it. Story-wise, I think it had some trouble from the get-go.
The story started out with an over the top love at first sight romance. They were all like - I know I just saw you for the first time like five seconds ago but I'm completely in love with you. And they stayed up all night just talking and blah blah blah, please make the cutesy stop before I vomit. There wasn't even any sort of passion between them.
Honestly, the only reason I didn't change the channel was because I watch whatever the heck comes on before it and I didn't have anything else to watch.
I blame the writers. Perfection is boring and fake. It doesn't exist in real life.
Their best friends who fought all the time were more interesting and would've made better main characters. Why? Because there was conflict that would have evolved into a romantic relationship. They were witty and had this sort of playground crush dynamic going on.
The story got better with each episode. However, that doesn't really help them now that the show was canceled. I wish Mad Love had another season or two to really find its footing. Oh well...c'est la vie.

Poor J. Love
I read that Ghost Whisperer was canceled. Awwwww, I know. I watched that show and liked most of it, despite some of the cheesiness. I always loved J. Love's outfits and the guy that played her husband brought his hotness to my TV every Friday night.
The part of the show that cracked me up was near the end of every episode. It was the heart to heart talk between the ghost and his/her loved ones, during which the ghost would attempt to make amends with whoever they had harrassed throughout the episode. The ghost would say what they needed to say and then Jennifer Love Hewitt's character would convey the message to the living, non-ghost whispering types. The problem was, she never accurately conveyed the message to the living. The ghost could go through this whole spiel about why they were acting a fool and how sorry they were, then J. Love would be like, "He says he's sorry."
HA!
Apparently, when you're dead, the bottom line is all that matters.
